American Craft Beer Festival

Four of us got tickets to the ACBF a few months ago. I’ve been super excited to try some American Craft beers since I don’t have too much knowledge about them.

We went to the Friday session 6-9:30. We showed up at 6pm about 45 minutes later than we intended, due to drinking in a pub beforehand. As you could imagine there were hundreds of people lining up in line. The line went quickly and we got in about 6:45pm.

ACBF - almost there

We were able to get to every brewery I wanted to visit except Goose Island that had a massive line up. We didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes in any line up. From what I read online the lines ups were quite big on the Saturday.

My favorite beers (though no limited) were:

Surly Darkness

Clown Shoes Hoppy Feet

Duck-Rabbit Rabid Duck

Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin

Lagunitas Hop Stoopid

Jackie O Dark Apparition

Redhook Bourbon Barrel Aged MacTavish Wee Heavy

Lawson’s Finest Double Sunshine IPA

All in all I was impressed by the quality of Craft Beers in America. I also noticed that most booths had an Imperial/Double IPA or a Black IPA or both.

My main reason why I liked this festival is everything is pre-paid. You don’t have to worry about tickets or running out of tickets. You sample as much as you want during the session you’re there. In addition there were no lines ups and no drunken people. Great festival. Highly recommended. Will definitely do another one.
